Algae Peel (Face)

The Zena Algae Peel (aka. liquid microneedling) utilizes the cutting-edge technology and unique properties of bioactive compounds naturally produced by specific marine algae (seaweed crystals) that penetrate and dissolve the epidermal layer of the skin, which reduces acne inflammation and oil production. Seaweed crystals contain tiny spicules that penetrate the skin, dissolving the upper layer of the skin, brightening it, reducing acne, lightening pigmentation and melasma, reducing acne scarring, fine lines, and wrinkles, as well as it can improve the appearance of stretch marks and tighten the skin.

Zena Algae Peel is rich in vitamin A, E and C in addition to Zinc and Copper. Once applied to the skin, the seaweed crystals will be gently massaged into the skin for 5-10 mins. Resurfacing your skin with the Zena Algae Peel will result in more youthful and healthy-looking skin. It will deeply stimulate collagen and enhance your skin cells.

The effects of the seaweed crystals remain inside your epidermal layer for 24-48 hours before dissolving. During that time, your skin will experience a mild redness. The first few days after treatment, you will experience some dryness in the treated area. Subsequently, it will peel for 5-7 days. After the healing process, new, rejuvenated skin will be revealed!

Preperation: 

• Avoid all sun exposure or as minimal as possible 
• Avoid exercise or sweating for 24hr-72hrs 
• Wash makeup brushes before next use 
• Always wash hands before touching your face
• Do not use active ingredients for 5 days after the peeling has stopped
• Avoid hot water on the area
• Use clean brow scissors to nip away peeling skin or let skin fall on its own
• DO Not attempt to peel, that can cause scarring – it is common for the skin to darken 3 to 4 days after the treatment until peeling has completed.
  Pigmentation will rise to the surface of the skin before peeling 
• If you are acne prone, it is common for acne to come to the surface to purge 
• For face, it is beneficial to add a brightening serum. Discuss the best option with your esthetician

Aftercare:

• Day 1: Do not wash your face for 12 hours
• Day 2: am Wash your face with a gentle gel cleanser / Use home care gel sent home with you / Apply Sunscreen after gel
• Day 2: pm Wash your face with gentle gel cleanser only! 
• Day 3 and onwards: Wash with gentle cleanser & use sunscreen during the day, at night cleanser only!
• The more dry your skin is the better the peel, hydrating your skin will reduce the benefits of this peel!!!! That is why you must limit Sunscreen application. 
• No makeup until the end of peeling 5-7 days and varies person to person
• Use a gentle ph balanced gel cleanser
• No sun exposure for a minimum of 3 weeks
• If you go outside, wear a hat throughout the process of peeling
• Wear sunscreen every day (min SPF 30)  
• Do NOT scrub for at least 21 days!!!!!
• Do not peel the skin yourself
• No hard friction on the area 
• Always keep your hands clean when touching your face – going forward, invest in medical-grade skincare products for optimal long-term results

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

-Shellfish Allergy

-Wounded skin & open wounds ( Exception is active acne )

-Skin lesions & scratches

-Tanning habits ( excessive sun exposure / Tanning or those unwilling to wear spf )

-Problem with scarring ( Hypertrophic or Keloid scars )

-Rosacea

-Cold Sores ( Active )

-Eczema / Psoriasis

-Botox or Filler done less than 3 weeks

-Peels done less than 5 weeks

-Suspend acids & Retinoids 3 weeks before the peel

-Microneedling sessions done minimum 4 weeks

-Laser sessions done minimum 4 weeks
